Pushing for Propane (Fleet Owner)

"I got the opportunity to talk with Jack Roush last year about the virtues of propane as a vehicle fuel — and it’s needless to say he’s a true believer in the stuff.

"What’s important here, though – at least in my view – is that Jack isn’t an idealistic dreamer on this subject. In fact, Roush started out in 1964 as an engineer for Ford Motor Co., moving on to pursue his own specialized interests in engine development and motorsports."

RRC Pacific Northwest Adventures

RRCWA-377x283 The ROUSH® Road Crew began their presence in the Pacific Northwest with a four day adventure which was held in conjunction with the MCA Grand National show in Bellevue, Wash.

Click here to see a photo gallery

Thursday, the first day, was a track outing at Pacific Raceways, a tricky road course spanning just over two-miles. Featuring pavement of varying ages and grip, the racetrack has elevation changes, off-camber turns, and a high-speed straight that utilizes a portion of the NHRA drag strip. RRC members Kerry and Mike were out on the track with their cars, and ROUSH® brought a 540RH™ to lay down the “Hammer” on the other cars. All the ROUSH® cars were were tearing it up in their run groups, and the 540RH™ had plenty of people checking their rear view mirrors and moving out of the way.

Friday saw the club take a nice long cruise through the scenic Washington back roads. Of the several stops the group made, the most impressive was the Snoqualmie Falls. This waterfall plunges 270 feet, ten stories higher than Niagara Falls, and the mist was blown upwards where it fell like rain at the top of the viewing area.

Roush, Johnson Go From N.J. Pole to Victory Lane

Grand-AmNJ377x283 MILLVILLE, N.J. - Billy Johnson and Jack Roush Jr. combined to lead all but four laps in Saturday's Garden State 250 victory at New Jersey Motorsports Park, the eighth round of the 2010 GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge season.

Johnson took over from Roush at the halfway point of the 87-lap, two-and-a-half hour race on the 2.25-mile Thunderbolt Raceway course, and - after coming out of the pits second - moved around Joe Koenig on the inside of Turn 1 on Lap 49. He engaged in a spirited battle for several laps with second-place finisher Matt Plumb, but Johnson was never headed after he put the No. 61 ROUSH Performance Products Ford Mustang GT up front.

The winning margin of victory was 1.384 seconds, the seventh race this season with a margin of victory under two seconds.

Roush, Shelby Collaborate on SR-71 Charity Mustang

SR71-1-377x283jpg It’s a collaboration that’s never happened before, a collaboration that will result in a one-of-a-kind 2011 Mustang that simply will be without equal. For the first time ever, Carroll Shelby and Jack Roush were on site to meet with Ford Motor Company to design, engineer and produce the SR-71, a vehicle inspired by the SR-71 “Blackbird,” the long-range reconnaissance USAF aircraft built by Lockheed Martin.

For the last three years, the Ford Motor Company has provided EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) with unique auction vehicles that have raised over one million dollars for EAA’s Young Eagles program. The Young Eagles Auction takes place each year at AirVenture, EAA’s annual air show and gathering. Ford Motor Company has been a proud supporter of EAA and Young Eagles for the past 15 years by providing various vehicles and donations each year to be raffled and auctioned off.

Micro Bird and ROUSH Partner to Develop Liquid Propane School Bus Applications

MicroBird377x189 LIVONIA, Mich. – There isn’t cargo any more precious than a child, and school bus companies take every precaution to ensure the safety of the children they transport on a daily basis. The newly developed partnership between ROUSH® Performance Products and Micro Bird, Inc. has given a ringing endorsement to propane by incorporating the ROUSH Liquid Propane system into the new 30-passsenger Micro Bird® by Girardin, a Type A School, Multi-Function School Activity Bus (MSFAB) and Commercial bus.

“Propane is a perfect alternative fuel option for school districts that must reduce their operational costs as well as lower their emissions,” said Jack Roush, motorsports legend and chairman of ROUSH® Enterprises. “Historically, propane trends 30 to 40 percent less than diesel which helps the school districts to stretch their fuel budget considerably further, and there is no question that the emissions are much cleaner.”

ROUSH Takes Liquid Propane Vehicles to the California Roads

GrodyVan377x283 LIVONIA, Mich. – ROUSH® has often stated that their lineup of liquid propane-powered Ford F-Series pickups and E-Series vans have no loss of horsepower, torque or towing capacity. However, that message can best be learned by sitting in the driver’s seat and personally experiencing the complete functionality of the ROUSH® liquid propane vehicle performance. Now, this week, ROUSH® is taking their vehicles on the roads of California to give prospective customers a first-hand test drive.

California is a leading state when it comes to green vehicle technology, yet fleets are struggling to meet state emissions requirements. Propane provides an immediate solution to cleaner emissions as well as a reduction in foreign oil dependency. The Return on Investment to propane makes more sense than any other alternative fuel option available today; additionally, a government grant is not necessary to see a positive ROI with a switch to propane.

Driven: 2010 Ford Super Duty by ROUSH Propane-Powered Vehicles (Winding Road)

"The Ford F-250 is a truck we have reviewed a few times before. The model that we have today, however, is quite a bit different. Rather than the traditional gasoline- or diesel-powered F-250, our tester is powered by liquid propane gas (LPG), courtesy of Roush Propane Powered Vehicles. Although the F-250 isn’t the most involving vehicle we have ever driven, we could hardly turn down the opportunity to spend a week with an alternative fuel vehicle. Here is what we discovered."
