ROUSH® with Hooked on Driving at Thunderhill

WILLOWS, Calif. – Despite a heavy layer of smoke from the nearby wildfires, the second annual Hooked on Driving presented by ROUSH® Performance was a resounding success.  Held on Friday, June 27, the haze was so thick it presented a challenge for the drivers over the crest at Turn 9 that normally look for a water tower as the aiming point for the blind turn, but it was nearly lost in the airborne pollutants.

Car performance and driver enthusiasm were not, however, effected as nearly 90 cars were on hand for the school and to test their skills on the 2.88-mile road course.  ROUSH® owners brought a pair of Trak PakTM Mustangs, several 427RTM Mustangs and a Stage 3TM.  In addition to ROUSH® representatives, Francis Hopping with Corning Ford was at the racetrack to talk about the ROUSH® vehicles and display a P-51ATM, Stage 3TM and the new Ford Flex.

During the driver’s meeting David Ray, chief instructor, reminded the drivers that the Hooked on Driving school is not a racing program.  "We are out here to drive our cars well, even briskly, but not on the edge.  This program is for everyone to have fun and to be able to learn about car control, driving lines, and the performance capabilities of your own vehicle," he said.
