Pushing for Propane (Fleet Owner)

"I got the opportunity to talk with Jack Roush last year about the virtues of propane as a vehicle fuel — and it’s needless to say he’s a true believer in the stuff.

"What’s important here, though – at least in my view – is that Jack isn’t an idealistic dreamer on this subject. In fact, Roush started out in 1964 as an engineer for Ford Motor Co., moving on to pursue his own specialized interests in engine development and motorsports."

Micro Bird and ROUSH Partner to Develop Liquid Propane School Bus Applications

MicroBird377x189 LIVONIA, Mich. – There isn’t cargo any more precious than a child, and school bus companies take every precaution to ensure the safety of the children they transport on a daily basis. The newly developed partnership between ROUSH® Performance Products and Micro Bird, Inc. has given a ringing endorsement to propane by incorporating the ROUSH Liquid Propane system into the new 30-passsenger Micro Bird® by Girardin, a Type A School, Multi-Function School Activity Bus (MSFAB) and Commercial bus.

“Propane is a perfect alternative fuel option for school districts that must reduce their operational costs as well as lower their emissions,” said Jack Roush, motorsports legend and chairman of ROUSH® Enterprises. “Historically, propane trends 30 to 40 percent less than diesel which helps the school districts to stretch their fuel budget considerably further, and there is no question that the emissions are much cleaner.”

ROUSH Takes Liquid Propane Vehicles to the California Roads

GrodyVan377x283 LIVONIA, Mich. – ROUSH® has often stated that their lineup of liquid propane-powered Ford F-Series pickups and E-Series vans have no loss of horsepower, torque or towing capacity. However, that message can best be learned by sitting in the driver’s seat and personally experiencing the complete functionality of the ROUSH® liquid propane vehicle performance. Now, this week, ROUSH® is taking their vehicles on the roads of California to give prospective customers a first-hand test drive.

California is a leading state when it comes to green vehicle technology, yet fleets are struggling to meet state emissions requirements. Propane provides an immediate solution to cleaner emissions as well as a reduction in foreign oil dependency. The Return on Investment to propane makes more sense than any other alternative fuel option available today; additionally, a government grant is not necessary to see a positive ROI with a switch to propane.

Driven: 2010 Ford Super Duty by ROUSH Propane-Powered Vehicles (Winding Road)

"The Ford F-250 is a truck we have reviewed a few times before. The model that we have today, however, is quite a bit different. Rather than the traditional gasoline- or diesel-powered F-250, our tester is powered by liquid propane gas (LPG), courtesy of Roush Propane Powered Vehicles. Although the F-250 isn’t the most involving vehicle we have ever driven, we could hardly turn down the opportunity to spend a week with an alternative fuel vehicle. Here is what we discovered."

Prime Time Shuttle to Save 1.5 Million Gallons of Gasoline by Making the Switch to ROUSH Liquid Propane Fuel System

ROUSHPrimeTimeShuttle377x283 LIVONIA, Mich.  – Prime Time Shuttle has been offering quality ride-share transportation to major Southern California airports since 1984. Beginning today, the company energizes their environmentally friendly growth by making the switch to an alternative fuel – propane – with the addition of ROUSH® liquid propane-powered Ford E-350s to their fleet.

Prime Time Shuttle will replace their existing fleet with 200 ROUSH® propane-powered shuttle vans within the next 24 months. Each shuttle van consumes more than 7,500 gallons of gas annually; by switching to propane, Prime Time Shuttle will save more than 1.5 million gallons of gasoline each year. Since propane is produced domestically, this is a great way to reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

California Governor Schwarzenegger Praises ROUSH Liquid Propane Vehicle Lineup

LIVONIA, Mich. – Before he became the Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger played a “terminator” in big-budget action films. Now he is working towards terminating his state’s dependence on foreign oil and recently hosted the Summit on Advanced Transportation Industry which highlighted a variety of alternative fuel options, including the ROUSH® liquid propane-powered vehicles.

While visiting the ROUSH® display, Schwarzenegger explained how excited he was to see so many different alternative fuel choices for fleet users, especially praising the OEM-quality of the ROUSH® liquid propane engine conversions.

“(The) Summit is especially timely as we continue to be stunned by footage of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Now, more than ever, it is clear that clean transportation is the future, and California’s policies and companies are leading the way,” Governor Schwarzenegger said in an Imperial Valley News interview. “Our nation-leading green policies are…charting the path to a future that doesn’t depend on oil, will reduce costs for consumers and leave this world a better place for the next generation. This Summit will help us build on what we’ve already achieved by improving the partnership between state government and business so we can remain number one in clean transportation.”

SuperShuttle Finding ROUSH Propane Vans Effective Tools in Reducing Costs and Meeting Airport Restrictions

ROUSHSuperShuttle377x283 LIVONIA, Mich. – SuperShuttle, one of the most recognized airport shared-ride ground transportation companies in the country thanks to their blue and yellow vehicles, has been testing the ROUSH® propane-powered Ford E-Series vans at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. So far the company has been impressed with the switch to propane on multiple fronts.

SuperShuttle currently has five 15-passenger ROUSH® propane Ford E-350 vans in the Phoenix fleet, with ten more units on order. These are helping the company immediately fulfill the airport’s new requirement that all servicing fleet vehicles (such as taxis, limos and shuttles) run on an approved alternate fuel such as propane.

The fuel savings that SuperShuttle is finding by running their fleets on propane was anticipated, but is still a pleasant boost to the bottom line.

MAMA Likes the ROUSH Propane F-250

MAMA377x283 More than 80 journalists from the Midwest Automotive Media Association (MAMA) had an opportunity to see and drive a 2010 ROUSH® Propane-Fueled F-250 during their annual ride-and-drive event at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis. Everyone who climbed behind the wheel was astonished at how seamless the driving experience was on propane and how the truck felt no different that its gasoline counterpart. If ROUSH® can win over some of the most experience automotive journalists with a propane pickup, it certainly indicates that the product is right for the market.

Cooking Horsepower (RacePages)

SusanDragCar377x283jpg Propane is used successfully every single day by fleets to save money and clean up the environment. Its virtues are well documented for those uses, but what about on the racetrack? It turns out that propane is also an excellent fuel for performance and motorsports applications. RacePages took a look at what engines ROUSH® is developing for the quarter-mile crowd.

They wrote, “…We had never heard of propane being used as a fuel for a (racing) application, and in fact, the revelation surprised us. However, once he started to extol the benefits of what propane offers, like its 105 octane rating and inexpensive cost, it began to make a bit more sense. With that in mind, we made plans to visit the (ROUSH®) facility and find out a bit more about this emerging technology.”
